Psychology 1000 - Introduction to Psychology

An introductory survey of the methods and findings of modern scientific psychology. The following topics will be covered: history and methodology, biological psychology, sensation and perception, learning and motivation, verbal and cognitive processes, developmental psychology, social psychology, individual differences (intelligence and personality), and clinical psychology (including psychological disorders and psychological treatment).

Psychology 2075 - Human Sexuality

A survey of the psychological study of human sexual behavior. Topics include history, methodology, theory, anatomy, physiology, attraction, sexual function, sexual orientation, contraception, conception and birth, sexual health and sexual coercion, and pornography.

Psychology 2310A/B - Abnormal Psychology

This theory course is designed to introduce the wide-ranging theories of psychopathology in adults. Topics will include the major DSM-IV diagnostic categories, as well as research and treatment (of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders, eating diorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, etc.). The course orientation is empirical, with an emphasis on recent research findings with this population.

Psychology 2301A/B - Introduction to Clinical Psychology


This course offers a survey of major topics in clinical psychology, including assessment and intervention approaches; experimental psychopathology; ethical, professional and theoretical issues; and emerging trends.

 

Psychology 3771F/G - Humanistic Psychology


An examination of meaning, authenticity and self-transformation from humanistic and transpersonal perspectives. Implications for personal growth, counseling and global concerns. A special focus on humanistic therapy, including client-centred therapy, actualizing therapy, and psychosynthesis.

Prerequisite(s): At least 70% in any 2100-level psychology half or full course. 3 lecture hours, half course.
